LUDeC Showcase: Collaborative Research in the Liveable City

The Leverhulme Unit for the Design of Cities of the Future (LUDeC) encompasses 15 researchers working to transform the way we think about cities.

The Proud Place: Manchester’s Golden LGBT+ Community Hub and Architectural Gem

The Proud Place Exterior

The Proud Place is the new golden and energy efficient three-storey LGBT+ Community Centre and Queer Public Place in Manchester’s city centre. Completed in 2022, it is the only purpose-built LGBT+ community centre in the UK and provides a safe and accessible ‘third place’ for LGBT+ people.

The University’s MSA is ranked 5th in the world in the 2024 league table – maintaining last year’s success and its highest-ever position – and 2nd in the UK.
