Senior Lecturer in Creative Writing Dr Kim Moore has been awarded a Cholmondeley Award for Poets by the Society of Authors.
At the ceremony on 18 June, Kim was awarded both for her body of work and her contributions to the poetry community. The Cholmondeley Awards for Poets have been running for over 60 years and recognise the achievement and distinction of individual poets.
Dr Moore said: “Poetry has always been my way of making sense of the world. I’m interested in highlighting issues that are often minimised or rarely discussed. My latest collection looks at motherhood in the context of bringing a daughter into a world where gender-based violence is still happening.”
Previously Dr Moore has previously partnered with AHEAD around 16 Days of Activism Festival, using Poetry as a mechanism for helping women who are going through or have survived Domestic Violence and raising understanding about the issues and importance of policy change.
