Locating Menswear forum unites North West academics and industry professionals with menswear consumers and fans

Earlier this month Manchester Fashion Institute held the first Locating Menswear forum at The Manchester Metropolitan University and Space Liverpool. Building on an 18-month AHRC network grant, the forum brought together academics and industry professionals with menswear consumers and fans.

The forum challenged who holds the knowledge around menswear, acknowledging sites of exchange and influence and the politics of leisure. It surfaced the value we attach to clothes, and the stories we tell through them. It was great to see and hear the many different approaches, methods and rationales behind the studying, collecting, documenting, exhibiting, making, buying, selling, sharing and wearing of menswear.
